This application contains questions and answers for the license Chief Engineer
Limited Near Coastal, Assistant Engineer Limited and Designated Duty Engineer
any horsepower. The main difference between Near Coastal and Oceans is the electricity
module. On the Oceans exam you will be tested on electricity and electronics.
The Near Coastal exam does not test on electronics.
Limited refers to tonnage not horsepower. The Limited license are limited to
1600 Gt.(domestic) and 3000 ITC (international). Horsepower rating can be 1000
to unlimited, any rating over 6000 HP is considered unlimited. The scope of
the license can be Near Coastal or Oceans.
